- ➤ From July 2024 to July 2025, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank served 5 million more meals as rising inflation and decreased donations increased local need & stretched resources in 11 counties. The Tribune-Review
- ➤ Pittsburgh residents & community organizations are cleaning up city streets and highways ahead of the NFL draft; the Immaculate Collection initiative led by Allegheny Cleanways cleared over 400 tons of litter since September and invites more neighborhood events. WTAE
- ➤ The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank launched Bands and Bids, an online auction that runs until April 16 to raise funds through music memorabilia and ticket offers. An in-person viewing event is held at the Penn Hebron Garden Club in Penn Hills (6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.) for bidders. WPXI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Ringling Bros. ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ will perform at PPG Paints Arena from Oct. 16-18 (described as reimagined for a new generation) and features a two-hour live show with stunts and acrobats (tickets are now available). WPXI
- ➤ Pittsburgh Pride 2026 will be held June 5-7 at Allegheny Commons Park West, with the parade starting in the Strip District on June 7. Organizers have raised $80,000 against a $500,000 goal and warn cuts will occur if more funds are not secured by May. NEXTpittsburgh
- ➤ Nelly and Third Eye Blind will perform at a free concert celebrating America’s 250th anniversary at Point State Park on Saturday, June 27. The Pittsburgh show is part of the Commonwealth Concert Series touring five cities. WPXI
- ➤ Kennywood’s 128th season begins Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m. Celebrating The Whip’s 100th and The Phantom’s Revenge 25th anniversaries, the park will feature updated attractions and a return of cheesesteaks at Centennial Grill+ Celebrate Kennywood Weekends run through May 10. NEXTpittsburgh

- ➤ The University of Pittsburgh is among eight universities selected by NASA to track Artemis II’s Orion spacecraft as it embarks on its upcoming mission—an effort that puts the school in a pivotal role in space research. WPXI
- ➤ Allegheny County Jail has partnered with Community Kitchen Pittsburgh, PRLAEF and NRAEF to offer a six-week ServSafe and Restaurant Ready training program to re-entry residents, which will help them secure jobs in the food and hospitality industries (post release). Incarcerated participants attend classes twice weekly as they gain industry skills. Allegheny County
