ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The American Legion building in Troy Hill partially collapsed yesterday—officials said no one was inside.  WPXI

CRIME NEWS

  • Pittsburgh police investigated a crashed car in Shadyside that was detected by ShotSpotter and found to contain two firearms—officers said the driver fled on foot as a K9 unit tried to locate the suspect.  WPXI
  • Allegheny County Police are investigating an overnight stabbing in Penn Hills— a woman was stabbed in the chest and taken by private vehicle to a nearby hospital in critical condition, with details about the location and time still unclear.  WTAE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Heavy rainfall overnight closed a portion of Kennedy Boulevard in Aliquippa Saturday morning—just before the interchange of Monaca Road and Franklin Avenue near Cesina Sausage and Waugama Street—and police said the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Aliquippa Water Authority were working to fix the issue while advising drivers to use alternate routes.  WTAE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, a WalletHub report ranked Pittsburgh as the 18th healthiest city in the nation—earning it a spot in the top 20—and placed Philadelphia at 45th among 182 cities.  PennLive

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, the Penguins overcame their mistakes as Sidney Crosby scored a hat trick—his final goal came at 1:15 remaining when the net was empty—helping his team secure a key win over the Stars.  WPXI
  • Willie Parker became one of the best undrafted free agents for the Steelers when the team signed him despite initial doubts—he had low college stats and fumbled—and he set the record for the longest Super Bowl run. His cousin Jaylen Warren now is on the team.  PennLive
  • Former Steelers cornerback Jason McCourty said the team may break its eight-year playoff win drought if they sign Aaron Rodgers as quarterback. Rodgers threw 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions last season with the Jets+ and his playoff experience has led Steelers leaders to target him for the postseason.  PennLive
