- ➤ Chef Nik Forsberg's restaurant Fet-Fisk in Bloomfield was named a finalist for Best New Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation on April 3—this honor shows its strong appeal— and it has become one of the toughest places to get a reservation in Pittsburgh. WPXI
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, a lecture by Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook at the Cathedral of Learning was disrupted when racist slurs and vulgar drawings appeared on the livestream due to a hack — about 100 attendees experienced the incident and the university has not yet commented. The Pitt News
- ➤ Owners of Pittsburgh Mills mall in Frazer Township were charged on Wednesday with creating a public nuisance by failing to repair dangerous potholes that forced emergency vehicles to bypass the area—investigators say the district attorney’s office began reviewing the matter weeks ago. PennLive
- ➤ A Mt. Washington man pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle after a drunk-driving crash on March 2 that killed his cousin near the West End Bridge, and he faces 11 1/2—23 months of jail, four years of probation, and 175 hours of community service. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Kennywood Park will open its 127th season on April 12 — a nod to the local area code and the park’s earliest opening since 1931 as it reveals new themed rides and an Eggcellent Celebration. The Steel Curtain roller coaster is about 90% complete and will reopen later this season — additional test runs will determine its grand return. The Tribune-Review

- ➤ Carnegie Science Center’s Mental Health: Mind Matters exhibit uses interactive displays — including a worry shredder and emotion recognition game — to help visitors understand mental health conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression. - ➤ Federal Judge Mary McElroy in Rhode Island blocked the cut of $11 billion in federal public health funds requested by 23 states + the District of Columbia on Thursday, saying the case had strong merits.
