BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The former Homer City Generating Station in Indiana County will be redeveloped into a $10 billion natural gas-powered campus for AI and data centers by Homer City Development. Construction will begin this year and the project will include seven turbines generating up to 4.5 gigawatts — enough power for 3 million homes — with power expected to start by 2027. CBS Pittsburgh

- ➤ A 9-year-old boy was hit by a white Subaru while riding his bike in Penn Borough Tuesday evening and was discharged from UPMC Children's Hospital after suffering a concussion and leg injuries—state police are searching for the driver, described as a man in his 30s or 40s, who left the scene after moving the bike. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Shapiro is appealing the USDA's decision to cancel $13 million in local food funds—money that would help 189 farms and supply meals to families. Lt. Governor Austin Davis led a roundtable on Wednesday at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank where state and local leaders warned that without the funds, both farmers and pantries will struggle as more residents rely on community support. - ➤ Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that Aaron Rodgers has no firm deadline for signing as the team uses the spring to teach and learn, and that training camp will mark the decision cutoff in July—he expects the deal will be finalized near or before the NFL Draft. PennLive
- ➤ Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields signed a two-year, $40 million deal with the New York Jets and will start as quarterback in the 2025 season—Jets general manager Darren Mougey said Fields is expected to be a breakout player while coach Aaron Glenn plans to use his skills in the field. - ➤ Marc Fogel (63), a teacher from Butler who was detained in 2021 while traveling to Russia to work at a school for allegedly possessing medically prescribed marijuana, will toss the first pitch at the Pirates' home opener against the Yankees this Friday.
