CRIME NEWS
- ➤ One man was killed and another injured in a shooting in Homewood North — the incident occurred a little after 2 a.m. today on the 7300 block of Monticello Street, and no arrests have been made. WTAE
- ➤ State police in Washington County are seeking help identifying a man accused of scamming people out of $15,000 — officials advise anyone with details to come forward immediately. WPXI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Pittsburgh residents can join 11 fun events this April that include talks on nature and art shows, comic con gatherings and film festivals—each event will bring food, music and local pride to parks, museums and community centers. - ➤ Longtime Pittsburgh radio personality Jim Quinn died Sunday at 82. He began his career as a DJ at KQV in the 1960s and later co-hosted the Quinn and Banana show on B-94 while also working at 13Q. KDKA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ City Charter High School uses a four-day week so students have Monday off while keeping a year-round schedule with three months on and one month off. CEO Dr. Dara Ware Allen said the schedule gives teachers and students a better work-life balance—though first-year students sometimes find summer challenging. KDKA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Boaz toured the new landside terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport, set to open this fall, and saw 1,200 workers installing ceiling panels and pouring terrazzo floors. Bob Kerlik explained that the project will feature magnetic-powered baggage conveyors and outdoor gardens filled with native plants — improvements that will shorten baggage travel and enhance the passenger experience. - ➤ PennDOT has begun several construction projects to repair bridges and improve roads across Allegheny County.
