ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Buses in Pittsburgh modified their routes after debris from a landslide forced a detour on the MLK Jr. East Busway Friday at 8 p.m. The detour requires buses to now enter+exit about one mile from their usual downtown stop on 26th Street. WTAE
- ➤ A regional Air Canada jet crashed into a firetruck at LaGuardia Airport late Sunday, killing its two pilots and injuring dozens and causing multiple cancellations at Pittsburgh International Airport on Monday. WTAE
- ➤ A major water main break along Route 51 (in Aliquippa) disrupted water service in nearby communities yesterday. WPXI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Allegheny schools are set to begin a $226M renovation project for three elementary, an intermediate and a senior high school, with work starting late next year. - ➤ Aliquippa water authority declared a state of emergency Monday after three water main breaks affected 22,000 customers. Crews fixed two breaks and continued repairs on a main on George Street while water service was cut in parts of Aliquippa (and nearby communities) with full restoration expected by Tuesday morning. - ➤ Lane closures on Browns Hill Road will begin on Monday, April 6 for joint repairs and pavement markings. One inbound lane will close from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and one outbound lane from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. as the work, in coordination with Pittsburgh Water, continues into May. Allegheny County
- ➤ Crews will start graffiti removal Monday, Mar. 30 in Allegheny County by closing single-lane roads until late April. WPXI
- ➤ Pittsburgh Mills owner Namdar Realty Group faces pressure as township officials report unpaid fines and a hearing was held yesterday. They plan further action on April 16 (to address overdue repairs and road repaving as warmer weather sets in). The Tribune-Review
