  • Spencer Novak (14) from Fayette County launched the Fayette Freedom and Honor Foundation to support veterans in nursing homes. He held a donation drive at Laurel Highlands Middle School this weekend that collected seven truckloads of goods for local veterans.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • One Fayette County middle school student launched a new foundation to support local veterans. The foundation plans to hold fundraising events & community projects in the coming weeks.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • Sammie Elliott’s Underground Squeaks partners with a local vet office to rescue and rehouse bunnies, and Megan Shinn shared her story on KD Sunday Spotlight. The nonprofit continues to work for animals in need today.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • Penn Hills No. 7 VFC has received a thermal imaging drone donated by Sri Venkateswara Temple to aid search operations and boost safety. Training is ongoing to certify operators to FAA standards.  WPXI

  • Legacy Hospitality Partners will open The Plaza at North Shore — a 30,000 sqft dining and entertainment space with SugarBird — on April 2 ahead of the Pirates home opener and NFL Draft. It is located at the corner of Mazeroski Way and General Robinson Boulevard across from PNC Park.  WTAE
  • City leaders celebrated the opening of three new restaurants—La Dolce Vita, Teocalli and Bedford House—in East Carson business district Friday, as each venue offers unique dining options and hours. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, supported by the South Side Chamber of Commerce, marked a boost for local entrepreneurs.  WPXI

  • Former Steelers cornerback Darius Slay retired after the team released him and the Bills claimed him off waivers; he said he did not feel like moving and preferred staying in Philly or going home. He signed a one-year deal before making this decision.  PennLive

  • The Pirates reassigned the 19 year old prospect Konnor Griffin to minor league camp on Saturday after he homered four times in Grapefruit League games but struggled with his hit rate.
