  • Semper Gratus hosted its 'Small Town Loud Voice' event in Verona where a local family received gifts and heartfelt support — 5-year-old Cora Kuhn, who loves Disney movies, singing, and swimming, was honored alongside her family.  The Tribune-Review
  • Community members gathered on Saturday at a bingo fundraiser in Jeannette to support the Five Angels Memorial Fund — created two years ago after a deadly Guy Street fire that claimed Tyler King and his four children —. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pitt students gathered data Friday at the Bates and Semple streets intersection by tracking pedestrian crosswalk use and vehicle and bike traffic to support calls for safer streets in Oakland. They will collect more data on March 27 to share their findings with city officials.  WPXI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • County and city leaders launched the spring Immaculate Collection on Friday to clean 50 miles of highways and over 50 neighborhoods ahead of the NFL Draft. Volunteers removed 400 tons of litter and new programs (including a collegiate litter challenge) are planned to brighten the area.  WPXI
  • Carla, the peregrine falcon nesting on the Cathedral of Learning, laid her second egg around noon Friday. The bird can lay up to six eggs, and she and her partner Ecco will begin incubating when most eggs are in the nest.  WPXI
  • Local high schoolers are leading a youth climate action summit in Pittsburgh today to explore solutions and share innovative ideas on climate change (involving students from several local schools).  WPXI

  • Local health providers are expanding early mental health screenings to curb youth suicide by embedding professionals in schools and hospitals across Allegheny, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.
