  • Pittsburgh's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade begins at 10 this morning at the Greyhound Bus Station on Liberty Avenue and 11 Street and winds through downtown before ending at Commonwealth Place. Pittsburgh Police will secure the route despite reports of staffing issues as they prepare for parade celebrations on the South Side.  KDKA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An SUV crashed through the roof of a building in White Oak along Park Way near Senate Street around 5:30 a.m. on Friday, and first responders pulled the driver from the vehicle about an hour later.  CBS Pittsburgh

  • Space in the former Ace Hotel building in East Liberty is set to open as Hey Babe, an upscale craft cocktail bar and lounge. Entrepreneurs Danielle Cain and Rob Hirst—bringing over 50 years of combined hospitality experience—plan to launch the venue in summer 2025 and later add tabled restaurant seating.  WPXI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Student Government Board announced its 2024-2025 election results on Tuesday at Nordy's Place when Marley Pinsky was elected president and Olivia Budike became vice president. They plan to defend student activism and improve campus life by offering new office hours and clearer communication — steps aimed at ensuring student voices are heard and budgets are allocated fairly.  The Pitt News

  • A Greensburg woman got a refund check (over $600) on her car's extended warranty when she traded in her Jeep and urged neighbors to check their warranty papers before trading in their cars. She said keeping track of documents helps get money back when warranties are prorated.  CBS Pittsburgh

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pittsburgh police are in turmoil after Acting Chief Christopher Ragland quit last week amid political pressure and two chief departures since October, leaving concerns over the 758-officer force's stability. City leaders plan to meet with police commanders and may delay choosing a permanent chief until after the May primary—hoping to restore order in the bureau.  The Tribune-Review
  • The Allegheny County Elections Division is preparing for the special election on March 25 in PA House District 35 to fill the seat left by Rep. Matt Gergely—3,645 voters have requested mail ballots and all 97 precincts will offer in-person voting from 7 AM to 8 PM.  Allegheny County
