  • Light of Life Rescue Mission in Pittsburgh’s North Side is opening a new outreach center in spring to combine its food pantry, donation center, and furniture bank under one roof—making it easier to get help. The furniture bank will pause during the move while the food pantry and donation center keep helping those in need.  WTAE

  • A massive fire is burning a building on South 18th Street in Pittsburgh — firefighters battle the flames as dark smoke fills the sky.  WTAE

CULTURE NEWS

  • Officials broke ground on a new music venue in Pittsburgh's Lower Hill on Thursday—construction has begun to create a new space for live performances that will serve local artists.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • A groundbreaking ceremony was held near PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh’s Lower Hill District on Thursday to start construction of a new 98,500-square-foot music venue called Citizens Live at The Wylie. The venue is set to open in the second half of 2026 with 4,000 seats, 350 new jobs, and a retail incubator designed to boost local small businesses — a project that honors the Hill District’s music legacy.  WPXI
  • The nine-day Pittsburgh Fringe Festival returns live from March 20 to 29, offering a range of unconventional theater shows across Bloomfield, Garfield and Friendship.   • Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt and his wife Dani welcomed their first child, a daughter named Blakely Marie Watt, this week (the couple had planned for the baby since September 2024). Teammates and family congratulated them on Instagram.  PennLive
  • Steelers third string quarterback Kyle Allen signed a one year deal with the Detroit Lions to challenge for a backup job. Pittsburgh signed Skylar Thompson immediately after the season ended—filling the vacancy Allen left.  PennLive
  • Tristan Jarry made 33 saves in the Penguins' 5-3 win over St. Louis (at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday night). He earned his third win in a row since being recalled from the Wilkes-Barre affiliate and has stopped 94 of 100 shots in his recent games.  WPXI
