  • Women entrepreneurs in New Kensington are uniting downtown as nearly 16 women-owned businesses, including AngelWing Yoga & Wellness, work together to boost local growth. Local leaders say this energy supports economic success during Women’s History Month.  The Tribune-Review
  • The Rural Ridge Volunteer Fire Company in Indiana Township runs its long-running Lenten fish fry fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Friday at 135 Little Deer Creek Road — it aims to raise $15,000 by selling items separately, including fried cod, shrimp, and crab cakes.  The Tribune-Review

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kabeer Chopra, a Fox Chapel teen starting college this fall, seeks volunteers to run his recycling program Green Bridge 412. The initiative collects recyclables from over 150 homes and businesses in Fox Chapel, Aspinwall, Blawnox, and Harmar (and nearby areas) to reduce landfill waste.  The Tribune-Review

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state will invest $3.32 million over the next six years from its Neighborhood Assistance Program to revitalize downtown by filling storefronts + cleaning public spaces and supporting people experiencing homelessness.   • TSA employees at Pittsburgh airports have not received pay for 28 days amid a partial shutdown and struggle to afford food and gas, according to union representatives. The Allegheny County Airport Authority is providing lunch twice a week while local groups campaign to help these essential workers.  WTAE

  • A Pittsburgh man developed an AI-powered text-to-speech app (Talk To Me, Goose) to preserve his voice after an ALS diagnosis. The free tool is available on iPhones and Androids in the U.S. and Canada and aims to reconnect users with their unique sound as it expands globally.  WTAE
