  • VisitPITTSBURGH President Jerad Bachar said that projects at Market Square, Arts Landing, and the Allegheny Overlook will be ready in 48 days for the NFL Draft, while downtown hotels and short term rentals prepare for a surge in bookings.  KDKA
  • Trash remains a persistent challenge in Oakland as winds scatter small litter from unlidded cans largely contributed by student renters. The Oakland Planning and Development Corporation plans street outreach and adopt-a-block cleanups (including feedback to the city on missed pickups) to improve sidewalk safety.  The Pitt News

  • Pennsylvania officials are cracking down on boat owners who abandon vessels in state waterways. Owners now face retrieval costs between $5,000 and $20,000 along with fines from $500 up to $2,500 to prevent environmental and navigational risks.  KDKA

  • California Avenue Bridge on the North Side is deteriorating as bolts, rusted metal, and concrete chunks fall despite netting and fencing; the city set up a lane shift after inspectors found critical issues on Feb. 24 and a rehabilitation project is planned for 2028.  CBS Pittsburgh
  • Former Congressman Jason Altmire from Kittanning left Dubai on March 5 by an Emirates Airlines flight after being stuck for days as conflict grew in the Middle East; he said the State Department did not offer help for evacuations.  The Tribune-Review
