  • On Feb. 28, Pitt Pantry hosted its Hot Ones Blaze Battle in the O’Hara Student Center Ballroom; the event challenged fans with spicy wings, Kahoot trivia and prize baskets to raise donations, and attendees competed through 10 rounds inspired by the popular YouTube series.  The Pitt News

  • The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will close on May 4, affecting 171 employees as detailed in a WARN notice from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry; operations at 300 Corliss Street (Sheraden) will end, marking nearly two centuries of service in the community.  WTAE

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Kennywood and Sandcastle Water Park will host a dual job fair on March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kennywood, where over 2,000 employees will be hired for roles in ride operations, food services, and admissions (starting pay up to $15 per hour).  WPXI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hundreds of Pittsburgh Public Schools students gathered Tuesday for the fifth annual Student Voice Conference to discuss topics such as segregation, reproductive rights, sleep, and sports with hopes of sparking lasting change in the district.   • A federal judge in Pittsburgh denied the DOJ’s request for UPMC to release anonymized juvenile patient records today, ruling that children’s privacy must be maintained.  Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

  • Urban Tap completed a full inspection with the Health Department and boosted pest control measures after a rat was seen under a beer tap at its South Side location on E. Carson Street — management noted increased rodent activity due to nearby construction.  The Tribune-Review

  • Pitt parted ways with women's basketball coach Tory Verdi after three seasons, as athletic director Allen Greene announced Tuesday that a nationwide search for a new coach is underway & the team aims to improve its record.  WPXI
