  • Chrome Federal Credit Union has opened its first Pittsburgh branch at 201 Isabella Street on the North Shore following its merger with Alcoa Federal Credit Union, giving local members a convenient new banking option.  WPXI
  • Kingfly Spirits in the Strip District closed earlier this week after filing for Chapter Seven bankruptcy. The distillery operated for seven years in a renovated historic building and hosted events, so all future reservations have been canceled with refunds in process.  KDKA
  • At a Bank of America conference on Thursday, Feb. 12, PNC CFO discussed acquisitions and artificial intelligence plans that may boost growth from PNC's downtown headquarters — his remarks signal strategic directions for the company.  WPXI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Carnegie International will open on Saturday, May 2 at the Carnegie Museum of Art (in Pittsburgh) with works by 61 artists and 36 new commissions. The exhibit will run until Jan. 3 and marks 130 years since its first show in 1896.  NEXTpittsburgh

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gov. Shapiro signed a bill on Feb. 11 that mandates PA schools to teach cursive handwriting or joined italics at grade levels. The law will become effective in 60 days—aiming to support students’ writing skills and help them read historical records.  WTAE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Riverlife and City launched UpKeep, an initiative that will invest $6M over the next decade to maintain the 15-mile riverfront loop, including litter removal and vegetation care. Funding includes contributions from an anonymous donor + several foundations to help families enjoy clean parks and trails.  WPXI

  • On 92.9 FM, Steelers receiver Calvin Austin III said he wants to stay in Pittsburgh despite new coaching, though he noted his role may change, leaving him to face free agency; he is coming off injury-limited play (31 receptions, 372 yards, and three touchdowns) in 2025.  PennLive
