  • Fox Chapel Area High School sophomore Siddarth Srinivasan started an online petition for a safe sidewalk on Field Club Road in O’Hara after his walk became unsafe. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A grease fire on the 9th floor triggered a sprinkler system that flooded a Penn Hills senior high-rise, prompting authorities to evacuate residents (124 units) to a nearby senior center after crews responded at 3:30 a.m.  WPXI

  • The Roaming Bean plans to open its first physical cafe in the Strip District soon. The popular mobile coffee shop will serve locals its signature drinks — details on the opening date are pending.  WPXI
  • Workers at the Post-Gazette are calling for new union elections after saying their current union misrepresented their views (only 25% of the bargaining unit supports the leadership) as the paper prepares to print its final edition on May 3.  WPXI

  • Pittsburgh will host The Night Before, an invite-only music event featuring Jason Aldean, John Morgan, and Shane Profitt at the Rivers Casino Event Center on Wednesday, April 22.   • Consumer sentiment in Pittsburgh dropped for the third consecutive quarter as data from fourth quarter 2025 show broader economic concerns persist. Experts say a return to pre-pandemic confidence appears unlikely.  WPXI

  • Pittsburgh Regional Transit announced plans to detour several buses if the forecast holds amidst the looming winter storm. The agency said these adjustments will help maintain safe travel for riders as icy conditions approach.  WPXI
  • Pittsburgh’s Public Source is moving its Develop PGH newsletter from Wednesday to Monday (starting this week) to preview local development meetings such as Planning Commission and Housing Authority sessions.  PublicSource

HEALTH NEWS

  • NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced today a $30 million donation to expand children’s hospitals, including funding for a new heart institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
