The Wrong Room: Why Father-Focused Events Miss the Fathers Who Matter Most

About this event

Scott Taylor is a Fatherhood Community Health Worker with Healthy Start, Inc. Drawing from experience in community leadership, youth advocacy, ministry, coaching, operations, and information systems, he develops practical approaches to strengthening father engagement in maternal and child health. His work examines how trust, identity, environment, and readiness influence whether fathers engage with programs and services.

Art Terry is the Perinatal Health Education Coordinator with Healthy Start, Inc. He is also the Chairman of the Fathers Collaborative Council of Western PA, and member of the National Healthy Start Association’s Fatherhood Practitioners Planning Team. Art possesses a lengthy history of male-focused community-oriented program management experience. From early years as a Youth Intervention Services Specialist through stints as a College and Career Advisor and NEED HBCU Tour Leader, he has been privileged to work with some of the finest organizations and leaders in the region. His passion for life-long learning has led to a philosophy that combines the utilization of evidence-based and research-assessed curricula, the application of trauma informed care principles in mentorship, and a love for community-based mobilization. A vigorous advocate for positive, responsible, involved, and committed father engagement with an emphasis on mental health and well-being, he appreciates the opportunity to share his experience.
