About this event

Join us for the closing featuring an open mic where you can share poetry, music, reflections into a living sanctuary of community healing.

What would it mean to create a home for the parts of ourselves that the world has called irrational, unstable, dangerous, or “mad”?

Join us at BOOM Concept for the closing event of "Sanctuary | Room Enough" —a powerful group exhibition presented and curated by Steel Smiling’s Wellspring program and The Future Is Black.

Together, we will honor and reflect on the submissions that imagined sanctuary as a kind of psychological and emotional home. Work made from inside the process, not reported back from the far side of a healed one - the messy middle, grounded in lived experience or honest inquiry that allow us to move through different aspects of Black lived experience.

To close out the exhibition, we are hosting an open mic and inviting you to share your own poetry, stories, music, and raw reflections. Come step into the room, hop on the mic, and help us transform the gallery into a living, breathing sanctuary of honest expression and community healing!
