Title: Efficient distribution of photonic entanglement in quantum network and its applications

Abstract:

Entanglement is a fundamental resource in quantum network applications. Distribution of entanglement over a large-scale network, which is a step to build a “quantum internet”, will open up novel network applications of quantum technologies such as distributed quantum computing, network quantum sensing, and new protocols of quantum securities. On the technological side, however, some technical issues remain: for example, how to efficiently deliver entanglement over lossy channels.

In this talk, we first discuss near-future solutions of efficient distribution of entanglement over lossy channel without complicated quantum repeaters. Our protocol enables us to distribute bipartite/multipartite entanglement efficiently over a star network. In addition, we discuss concrete examples of its applications in quantum computing, quantum metrology, and quantum security.
